Hops was born outdoors as a feral kitten, where every day was already a struggle for survival. Before he could be rescued, he suffered a devastating injury to his right hind leg. Part of the leg had been torn away, leaving the bone exposed.
When Hops was finally caught at approximately seven weeks old, he had likely been living with the injury for nearly two weeks. Despite the pain and danger of infection, this tiny kitten continued following his family and fighting to survive.
Hops eventually required surgery to amputate the injured leg, but losing it did not take away his spirit. With proper medical care, a safe home and plenty of love, he learned to run, play and enjoy life on three legs.
His story is a powerful reminder of the hardships feral kittens can faceāand of what can happen when someone notices, cares and refuses to give up on them. Hops may have started life fighting for survival, but he finally received the second chance he deserved.
